At any voltage? I don't think so! :nana: At 8.2V (which 2x IMR 16340 will easily produce) LuxLuthor's 1111 chart shows 1135 Lumens . Which, by the way, will flash the 1794! :shakehead
I believe LuxLuthor used a power supply for his destructive tests. Two 16340 will not sustain 8.2 volts under a 3 amp load. If I was wrong then the 1794 would flash off 2x16340 at 8.2 volts total. It doesn't flash because the 3 amp load lowers the actual voltage by a significant amount. Into the operating ranges where the 1794 outperforms the 1111. It was custom designed for the operating range I speak of (and LiCo cells of any size).
I dont think you can find any two 18mm lithium cells that will provide 8.2 volts under a 3.8 amp, or 3 amp load. If you try larger sized IMR cells, like 18500 IMR, you will flash the FM1794 bulb. I don't know if the 1111 will operate off even larger sized IMR like 18650, C or D size cells without flashing. Large IMR is the only way I know you can sustain high voltage like 8.2 volts under a heavy load like 3 or 3.8 amps (4.1amps @ 8.2volts in the luxluthor test chart). I'M asking because I don't know if the 1111 will runoff IMR.
If the WA1111 runs at 3.8 amps, and the FM1794 runs 3 amps...won't the FM1794 last longer?
My point was the FM1794 is the brightest bulb that will fit in this host. When I said "at any voltage", I meant any voltage that was practical.
No insult to the 1111 was intended.
I, like many, hope another run of G4 FM sockets will soon be available again.
In any case the difference is minor, less than is needed for a visible difference. My G4 with 1111 is often used also.
The 1794 is only available by special permission from the designer, FiveMega.
Thanks FM!
