As far as I understand this light has the same electronic as the LF2X, but a better build quality, can your comment on that?

The quality is SUPERB!

The machining on this light is extremely precise, and very well thought out. The light has a solid feel to it. Twist operation is VERY smooth.

Bottom Line? Quality is as good as surefire.

Nice review, Deicide. I love my Extreme III and recommend it totally. Programming it can be a bit tricky until you get the hang of it but overall a great little light. Astonishingly bright for it's size on 100% output running a Li ion battery.

It is recommended by the importer that you run it te Extreme III at 100% with Li batteries for a maximum of 2 seconds.

If you do so for longer than 2 seconds, you run a serious risk of frying it, like mine. It was not covered by the warranty.

Thanks for the info - I had not heard that - can you point me towards a reference for that?

I have only ever run it for a few seconds on 100% anyway.

The Pictures Are Now Fixed.

I have been organizing my photos on photobucket, and somehow the links were broken. Sorry for the inconvenience.

ArcMania posted in his original sales thread that he tweeked the electronics of each Extreme III for the vf of each Rebel LED for effeciency. Not sure how he did that. The beam of my Extreme III is beautiful with no artifacts and bright white color.
