Surrey! Would prefer a quick meet as I doubt I'd be able to commit to a three day camping trip.

Perhaps a meet from 5pm-closing at a good outdoors spot? Plenty of time for darkness and testing?

Alternatively, if you do do a three dayer, I would try and show up one evening.

I'd better not suggest any as we all know what happens when I set the date (Think of the film 'The Day After Tomorrow').

Camping would be a no for me and either a Saturday or Sunday evening would be OK if we are looking at Amberley. Not been over there since selling my motorbike, as I used to pop over to Whiteways reasonably often.

Personally if picking a date I'd be looking at Moon phase and rise/set times as a blazing full moon tends to take the edge off how impressive our lights are. I shall offer no more input on date selection.

It would be very good to catch up with you all.

Moonrise - 22:35
Moon illumination - 67.6%

Oct 29
Sunset - 17:38 (Astronomical twilight 19:31)
Moonrise - 06:11
Moon illumination - 1.6%


Based on this, the 29th is a clear choice for a properly dark evening as the moon will not be up. On the 22nd we get a 67% moon rising at 22:35 which will take the edge off things.

Oct 29th is their last open day this season, so let's make it that day???

The 29th would also be an opportunity to be in the spirit of Halloween as many celebrations will be going on on that Saturday evening. I can think of one extra 'lantern' I might bring.

Three are several pubs around the area and The Bridge Inn looks promising.

Due to archery coaching I'd most likely have to join later on, so not be able to make it to the Amberley museum (I've been before). This would be the case for any Saturday.

So, where are we with this? Looking likely?

I am a definite maybe.

Sorry to be undecided, but my Daughter might be coming back from Uni that weekend which, a) means I can't come, or, b) I will come, but I'll bring my whole family (They might be more interested in Amberley, rather than torches!).

I'll post as soon as I know which answer is the correct one!
