Update

The AL-10 housing is finish upgraded two months ago. It now contains the following:
  • 4 x P7 Led's D-Bin
  • 4 x Ledil Boom-s +/- 9deg
  • 8 x 18650 2500mA/h Li battery
  • HippCC 2,8A Buck driver
  • Custum alu/copper heatsink
  • Same old AL-10 divelight housing
All 4 led's are driven in series at 2,8A by the HipCC driver. On the picture my amp meter is showing 2,4A but this is the current going to the driver. I'm using 8 protected Li cells. 2 x 4 in series. All cells are mounted in clips and are removed for charging.

During testing in 20deg water the heatsink reaches 54,4degC. Burntime is estimated to 60-70 minutes but not confirmed yet. Teoretic light output is up to 3600 Lumen.

I tested it during tree dives now and the result is very good. It lights up the hole seabed. The boom reflectors gives a nice beam but not really a tight hotspot.

Great work. One thing missing though. Beamshots!!!
If you could measure the beam width and distance from wall that would be appreciated. I'd like to know the tru angle of the reflectors.

Nice, I need to modify some of my dive lights since barely any of the companies have switched to Led although the UK100HID is a kick *** dive light, besides leaking issues which are easily fixed.

Hi Fluor,
I like your mod, please can you clarify your battery pack configuration you used? 14.8volt 5ah?
What was the total burn time?
Did the LED's dim or stay constantly bright then just cut off?

4 x P7 Led's D-Bin
4 x Ledil Boom-s +/- 9deg
8 x 18650 2500mA/h Li battery 2 x 4 in series.
HippCC 2,8A Buck driver
Custum alu/copper heatsink
Same old AL-10 divelight housing

Im doing the same but using 3 x P7's, just trying to decide on my host and if i should go for a 4.5 or 9ah battery pack.

Thanks...

Battery pack is 14,8V 5Ah. I used the 2500mA/h battery from DX. Total burn time is not known yet but more than one and a half hour. I will do a better test later.

The leds did not go dim before the the end when batterypack cut off. From earler tests i know that the circut can give light down to 10Volts.

See my current versus voltage graph. This is the current going through the leds at different input votages to the driver:

Lets say you are getting 3600 lumens, do you get this for the 1- 1.5 hours burn time? or is there a dip in brightness?

Thanks

I dont think the multi reflectors you linked to will work:(
I have the triple one and the small hole is only just big enough to fit a cree metal ring through. there is no flat base to the reflector to allow it to be opened up.

Hmm, no flat base you say? I got one in the mail and will check it out anyway.

I should try and write that again more clearly.

Many LED reflectors have a flat section at the base INSIDE the reflector.

Like this http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=8334

The hole in the flat base can be opened up to accept a large diameter LED keeping the LED located in the focus point.

The triple reflector I have does not have a flat base inside the reflector so by the time the hole was opened up the LED would not be at the focus point.

Any runtime test yet?
I tested mine and after about 30 mins the batteries started giving up the ghost. Attached the multimeter and you can see the voltage drop rapidly..!
