Philips 7387 or 7388 on 2x Li-ion is overdriven. The 10.8V on 3x Li-ion is exactly the same as a Philips 5761 on 2x Lifepo4 = not under or over-driven. If you want to over drive something like a 7388 on 2x Li-ion you can try the 8.4V bulb on 3x Li-ion. I have not tried it yet and not sure if it will :poof: but if it works, it will be very very bright.

I have the 8.4 as well so might give that a go. For the 3x18650 set-up I'll stick with WA1185 for now which is much nicer...but once the couple I have are gone I'll need something else!

Great to still find new combinations to try in 2022, thanks for finding them @konifans

@fivemega I don't have a light to try that with but I guess it would work well, it would be good to hear from someone who can try it.

Has anyone here been brave enough to try the 8.4V Panasonic on 3X18650? Cursory googling tells me these bulbs are rated for a life of 100 hours which I'm hoping is a bit conservative since it looks like there was still room to overdrive the 10.8V lamp on 3X18650. I'm wondering if it may be feasible to seriously overdrive the 8.4V lamp with a soft start, rested cells or alternatively charged to only 4.1V each or so. Also, looks like ZenMarket does proxy shipping of these bulbs from the relevant retailers.

could give it a shot. There's no bravery. Lol. It'll work or it'll blow. I think it'll blow. But there's only one way to find out

I would if I had any. I'm hoping someone's prior experience could be informative because there's a heap of hassle in getting things shipped from Japan, so if I got any I'd want it to be a sure-enough bet and in quantities that would make the customs fees and shipping worth it

Ah gotcha. I doubt it would survive though. That's a lot of overdrive for a 100H bulb

So far I've tried the 10.8v (3x 18650) and the two Panasonic 3.6v bulbs (1x 26650).

10.8v was pretty underwhelming and looks like it could do with being overdriven more. Not as bright or as white as a Philips 7387 or 7388 on 2x Li-ion.
Based on this, I don't see any problem using 3x18650 for 10.8V bulb.

Fivemega turned me onto using 4 of these cells to power my 1185 Mag, using Andrew Wynn's adjustable regulated Hot Rater. The 2D Mag needs an extension tube to fit 4 of these cells. I'm having to do this because AW's fantastic regulated 14670 cells died, and no one makes that size anymore to fit in FiveMega's quad bored 2D Mag. I still have about 35 WA1185, and many of all the other bulbs I tested, so wanted a useable platform for them. I have 6 extra AW Hotrater adjustable regulators for these D mags also.

Then there is a bunch of programmable AlanB and Jimmy's regulators which are uber kewl. I have the programming tool and the source code to set that regulator for whatever voltage I want. Love the old school things we developed here.
