This is 5 times the light I thought it would be. Vinh outdid himself on this thing. He told me that it's putting out around 480K. I would say that is right or maybe even more. My BTU Shocker is right at 130K. The beam from this modded TN31 on top of the BTU beam is right at about 4 times brighter. This this is gonna throw about 1385 meters. Thank you so much Vinh. I love it. You guys need one of these. Vinh does better than perfect work.

This just in. 8-07-13

I thought I would let you guys know that rdfront just bought a used vinhnguyen54 dedomed XM-L2 TN31 6.5 amp flashlight and he just posted a confirmed 510K from 2 light meters, one $35 meter and one $130 Extech meter. Tested both lights about 5 times over about 2 minutes, one meter after the other. . He said this was the lower reading he got. He compared it to a saablaster TN31MB de-domed XP-G2 he has and it had a reading of 434K.

Here's 2 better pictures that I think are more clear and focused that I just took tonite. The moon was full. But they turned out better than the others at 445yds.

This one is zoomed in some to show detail of how well it lights everything up at that distance.

Trevor,

Vinh cut me a special deal since he bought both of my TN31's I had for sale at great prices. He sent me a pm and we talked about his modding these. He sparked my interest when he told me he gets around 480K lux out of the his TN31 mod. So I just had to buy one. I actually bought back one of mine. I think his normal price on the whole TN31 light modded by Vinh is like $185. Send Vinh a pm and ask. I highly recommend one of these. This light smokes a stock TN31. And Vinh is a super nice guy who responds quickly. And he is very reliable.

I give Vinh 5 stars. I'm tickled with this light and his work and service.

This is also what I've been wondering. Even if Wayne's TN31 doesn't throw as far, there's just no way that the TN31MB can be worth the extra cost, for this guy at least. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers here as I've owned products from both Micheal and Wayne and have enjoyed both of them. I even got to meet Micheal once at a GTG and he's an outstanding guy. Just comparing these two particular products, in my own mind, I'd choose Wayne's version personally. But even saying all of that, I've never gotten the chance to compare them side by side.

I got back my tn31 from vinh a few days ago and after comparing it to my xseacher with dedomed epe2 at 3 Amps and my dedomed t40cs(vinh modded it) this thing easly out throws both of them. The dedomed xseacher has been measured at 380k. Based of this vinhs tn31 has to be close to 500k. Just got to be careful the control ring gets very hot at 2 plus min on high

Vinh's modded tn31 dedomed xm-l2 6.5A:devil: vs Xseacher with dedomed xpe2 3A also done by Vinh

The Xseacher has been measured to 380k with dedomed xpe2 by some members here. well if thats 380k then the tn31 must be close to 500k

Nice guys! I want, I want!!

So does the control ring still work on the TN31? I'm assuming that 6.5 amp/480K is a dedomed XML2? To have a bit wider beam do you think he could make a 6.5 amp drop in that was still domed? Anyone guess what kind of numbers that would be? Maybe 1600 OTF and 190K @ 1M?

I've never tried to take my TN31 apart... so if you buy the drop in would that mean just screwing off the handle and then loosening those 3 phillops bolts at the base of the head?

Last nite I compared the vinhnguyen54 dedomed XM-L2 TN31 to my big Power On Board 35 watt HID. Saablster has said that his POB spotlight was 531K lux on his meter. Well I'll let you see the photos on my neighbors pool wall. The TN31 was the clear winner. No other flashlight or HID I have will touch the POB 35 watt HID in throw. But this vinhnguyen54 TN31 does and then some. Camera settings were manual exposure 1.2 sec shutter f/4 and ISO 400 with white balance set to fine or the image of the sun.
