I purchased a brand new genuine Belkin serial sync cable from ebay. I am not able to get it to work. The Palm complains that there is no connection. Palm behaves the same with cable plugged in or not. This is a locking cable and visually the cable looks good.
The ebayer tells me that this is first time somebody has complained about using the cable on T3.
The T3 came with the USB cradle and that works fine. If I disconnect the USB end of it, the Palm behaviour is different. The hotsync times out. This tells me that Palm "knows" whether it is docked on the cradle or not. This must be done via shorting some wires internally in the sync cable. Similarly, the serial sync cable has to have a unique signature. I wonder if my particular cable is faulty or T3 never works with a serial cable.
If you have ever succeeded in syncing T3 with a serial cable, please let me know.
