I purchased my iPhone 5 the first day it was available. Now almost 2 years later, the top button (sleep/wake button) stopped working much of the time. I would have to push it really hard or at an angle to get it to work.
Luckily, a Google search led me to Apple's page where they had a recall for a defective switch in models before March 2013. They'll fix it for FREE. I could get by until the new iPhone (6/air?) comes out this fall, but who knows if I'll even want it. Plus, by fixing this button I can sell it for more when the time comes.
I sent it out with a prepaid label. 1-day shipping back and forth plus time to fix. I should have it back in a few days.
Check it out if you are having problems with your iPhone 5 button!
