I had an old Acer laptop that was only getting about an hour or less when running on the battery. This little laptop came with a three cell(18650) battery and I replaced it with a nine cell extended battery.I'm not sure how old the laptop is but it's running Windows 98 if that give you some idea of the age.I decided to salvage the cells and gave them a good external charge and they topped off at about 4.20v.After setting for two weeks they are at 4.14-4.16v.I scratched up the cell covers so a quick order from Ebay got 10 heat shrink precut tubes made for batteries very cheap. The old flat top 18650's seem to work well in my 1000 lm flashlights so now I have a few back up spares.Time will tell if they have a decent run time. Now I'm asking all my friends for old laptop batteries.By the way,no fires or explosions occurred so the fire fighters didn't have to miss their dinner.
