I have an old L4 that I am looking at upgrading. I can either (A) use an old e2 head with a 'bulb' replacement or (B) replace the entire head.

(A)
On this drop in:

Any idea why they say "no" to protected cells?

(B)
Also, this replacement head:

Is the led part of the head (potted/etc) or is this the led 'bulb' from my first link placed in a reflector head. I'm hoping this has better heatsinking than using option (A) with an old e2 head.

No. Just from what I was told by them. I had the same question because the way they write it,it sounds like you will blow up if you use protective cells. So I got hold of them an asked and that was their response. They are to long and can/will damage the led board.
