What it the low like on the M61T? I sold my HOT for a couple reasons. The biggest was with the H/L ring it had no useable low. The M91T has a great useable low.

I can get some shots on low and see how they turn out.
i mostly used low on the 61T light up my notebook paper. I used firefly on Vihn's light for that purpose, too. I put Vihn's beamshots in his section.

I guess it all comes down to how you intend on using low and high.
My backyard is woods...so I'll do low shots in the woods like you're trail running.

I'll see how many amps are being drawn in low, too.
That may be a factor to some.

I haven't performed a run-time test, but the math doesn't support mine running 2 hours.
If I use Gene's 80% formula then I get:
(2300/1516)*.80 = 1.213 which converts to 1:13 minutes

The 61Hot seems hard to beat with the 5000mAh 21700.

I did a runtime test with the 2 x 18500 1700mAh batteries and it ran on high for 1 hrs 25 minutes, if they are replaced by 2300mAh batteries there should be a runtime increase of 600mAh which is an additional 35%, so in minutes the total runtime should be in the region of 115 minutes, 5 minutes short of 2 hours.

The differences of the low on different set ups could be a whole different thread, and I admit not as fun as lighting up a forest. The M61hot low is kinda low but since the beams pretty focused and squarish, it works ok for most close tasks, just not great for walking. The M91 is my favorite with the 2 battery low as a floody all the light you need for a campsite or walking. And you have the option of a lower low with one battery that's still pretty good for creeping around the house and not blinding the animals.
Speaking low, M91 on a single primary can go as low as mdc aa.

Here's some low beams and draws

M91T & M91 Low @ 2x18500 = 75mAh
M61 Hot & M61T Low @ 1x18650 = 21mAh

Thanks, this really highlights the differences in beam patterns. I really need an M91 and a wildcat and a…. Darn it!!

But that super low current draw on the M61T and M61Hot is awesome. The tradeoff is in lumens though.

Hi @kerneldrop, I have a question. When measuring the M91T on Hi, were you using 1x18650 or 2x18350? Aside from runtime, does it make a difference in output?

Ah, thank you! I read on Malkoff website that the M91T needs at least 2 Li-on batteries. Is this correct?
Also, the site does not say if the M61HOT can run on CR123 and how many. Could you help me with this question?

The M91 specs in the real world are a little off. She can run all the way down to a 3 volt but at reduced output. With a single lithium 3.7 you will get 75-80% of full output. That's still alot more then a standard M61. The M61 hot is rated up to 6 volts so you can use it on low with 2 primary cells. On high it draws a ton an may not be safe. It was basically designed for a single lithium. 1865/21700

I see. Thanks for your input! It seems I'm still staying with the M61HOT.
