I had a Surefire E2D LED DEFENDER that was run over by a Bush Hog, done a number on the head but body looks like it was not touched. I ordered a Maikoff E2, E2D/Scout M600 2-3 CR123 Head. If I honed the E2D body to take a 18650 would the head be ok using the 18650. I hate using the CR123 battery and will order a 16650 if it is a better option.

The original E2 bodies 'can' be bored for 18650 but a care should be taken.

With such a broad range of 18650 battery sizes, E2 body will not be able to accommodate the largest of 18650's without 'reducing' the structural integrity of the threads on the head end. This has been documented many times over the years.

I would stick with 16650 since their capacity has gone up over the years.

Good luck!

Definitely go with the 16650. Pretty high capacity nowadays and won't wea your light by boreing it out
