BTW, I don't know if this has been mentioned before. If you're running an L4 with this 2-stage switch and a Pila cell - you didn't have a moon mode before; the Pila would just cut out after draining. Well, you do now! Move the switch back to low and voila; moon mode.

Re: McE2S TurnKey tail switches: build to suit

Phaserburn,

I just did a couple run tests last night on one of Wayne's experimental drivers and in one case the I used a Pila. The graph was a straight line horizontal and then straight vertical when the Pila shut off. I use a single stage clickie for these tests so I can initiate the lightand logging at the same instant. The lack of any moon mode or drop in output was rather disconcerting, to say the least! If I understand you correctly, are you saying that had I been using a two stage, I could have shifted into low and had some output?

McG, that's correct. My L4/Pila168/2stage produced output on low after falling out of regulation. I didn't think anything of it until reading a different post today that made me remember. Someone else should try it and confirm. I may try tonight if I can.

Phaserburn, what resistor value do you use in your pila/L4 setup, and how bright is it (in comparison to an Arc or Dorcy AAA)? I just can't decide what to choose. Also, it might be due to Vf differences, but when my pila/L4 is about to go out of regulation, it gives warning signs--it gets dimmer and produces less heat, but I also get moon mode after it drops out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

I'm using a 10ohm. It is much brighter, more on a par with an X5T or Nightcutter. Color and beamshape are different than these 5mm lights, but it's a good approx.

Just sent email for order....

McE2S tailcap in HA-Nat.

What I need to know is what Ohm resisiter I need. I'll be using it on L4 and I want 20-25 Lumens on low.

For 20-25 lumens on low, you need a L2! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hi StanTeate,
I just changed the subject back (you threw me there!) I also responded to your E-mail that I have never made a trim cap with H3 vials as there is no room for them. I outlined your options including a refund in the response. Thanks.

I should have inquired about all the options before ordering. My bad. Reply posted to email. Thanks.
