I'm not which forum to put this in, so I'll start with this one:

I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan.

On the inside roof, between the trip computer and sunglasses holder, there is a green LED that is always on when the ignition is on.
It is green, and I want to replace it with a red LED.

I'm waiting for a call back from the Dodge dealer, but was hoping that someone on this board might have ideas on how to replace it, and what to replace it with.

Anyone?

Hi my friend, that is not a problem, i have a lot of experience doing mods in cars, replacement bulbs for Leds, you have to take out that bulb and make some mod and put a Led there, if is a 5mm Led connect with a resistor, 560 Ohm 1/4 watts, is not a big problem... if you put a bigger Led like a Luxeon Led maybe you need some extra thinks... if you need any help let me know...

Are you able to open up the housing to the point where you have a clear view of the LED? The simplest thing to try would be to find a red LED the same size as the green one and see if it will run in that spot. Are you able to tell what current/voltage is going to it?

I am going to try to get into the housing where the LED is and see what is going on.
One concern is that I don't want to make a mess, the wife would just love that!
The other concern is that this turns on when the headlights are on.
When the headlights are turned on, it turns on, and the trip computer dims...so I don't know if this led is somehow connected to the trip computer.

I'm going to see what I can figure out...

Changchung, if I just replace the green led with a red led, would I need to add a resistor, or just use what is already there?

Any other helpful suggestions, please let me know!

Ooooh, I know this LED you speak of, it is probably surface mount. You'll need a real steady hand to replace it. Or a can of red spray dye. ;-)

I have a GMT-800, a 2002 Tahoe to be specific. I was thinking about Lux I's for the DaytimeRunningLights. The questions I have are: Will it be too bright for oncoming traffic? I noticed that dirt and a bit of moisture gets in the lense where the bulb is housed(bulb type is 4157). Driver board-how to waterproof? Sorry, I am still a FNG on here and learning...
