General consensus is that the potting material that is used to mount and pot the ROP bulb contains moisture. After the lamp goes thru a variable amount of hot/cold cycles the phenomenon disappears. Or is you wish look at it this way. An AW1111 (and other) bi-pin lamp(s) mounted in an all metal bi-pin adapter like the ones FM and KD sell, does not exhibit this phenomenon. If it was condensation build up they would have the same "out gassing" problem.

Also although the ROP Hi bulb is fine bulb I had the problem with my mod of the solder on the pot heating up and reflowing. Did not stop the light from working, but was disconcerning.

Gassing? Is that what that is? I always thought it was condensation build up from the heat of the lamp on cool air inside the head. Goes away if I unscrew the bezel, but them comes back a few minutes later.
