Get this light, guys! I got a cr123 083 Sundrop a year ago and there has been no better tint than that one.

Eric242, email address noted! Thanks for the welcome.

Who made the 1xAA Pak? (I assume by the light description that only the head was made by Don.) Any pictures of the tail available?

Thanks, trip! So, the tail has a Mcclicky then? And, how does the Nichia 083 LED compare to the LED of the current Haiku Hi CRI?

What's the durability of the BB finish vs the stock Ti?

If it scratches, what is ones options?

I've got two Haikus that Alex beadblasted for me. The scratches are less noticeable with a BB finish than with a shiny finish. You can get it BBed again or possibly touch it up with a Scotchbrite pad.

Free bump for a good dude to deal with.

Re: FS : 1xAA Titanium SunDrop w/ bead blasting

Thanks coldshot, appreciate your kind comments.

The BB takes scratches as raw machine finish does. I have a BB blue Haiku that I EDC and the edges slowly "polish", like patina. I could re-blast and re-ano my Haiku but I don't, I just like the way it looks now.

With titanium either you keep your lights pristine on the shelf or you use them and enjoy the character it gets. Keeping a Ti light scratchless while using it is just not practical or even possible for that matter.

I agree ma tumba :D

+2
The 083B is excellent and is probably the highest CRI emitter available. Don no longer has any either. In response to BHodge's question above the current CRI light from Don would be the 119 and they are not too dissimilar but the 083 seems a little less rosy in tint; more pure if that makes sense, plus the round emitter shape is a direct fit to the lens in the Sundrop. One additional comment here is that this is the older Sundrop Head not the XR-U and the beam angle is wider on this head. Again I do not think that you can get this head anymore either....

Does this have a 3S in it? Will it run on a single RCR123 (with a different body of course)?

In fact I bet you could use the 2AA Pak with a pair of NiZn AA cells.

This is the original Sundrop head, it is a single stage converter, not a 3S.

Yes you could certainly run it on RCR123 with an appropriate pak. I associated it with a 1xAA pack for the form format. It is like the sundrop head was designed to go on this pak. Very balanced and beautiful.
