Hi all, I bought a new LeadLight <5mW about 2 weeks ago and have been having intemitent problems with it, I could return it but I'm tempted to try fixing/modding it myself.
What happens is this:
Sometimes I press the button and get a very bright green dot, perfect.
Sometimes I press the button and get a reletively bright dot with a cresent shaped green line deflected off at an angle, the dot seems to be reflecting off of the inside of the apature hole in the end of the pointer.
Sometimes I press the button and get a flickering dot that could go either way, bright or completely out.
I haven't tried removing the button or anything else yet.
Hope this all makes sense.

Hi,
I think it's better for you to return it.
In facts, to repair this problem, you have to open your laser and this brokes the waranty, so you won't be able to use the warranty to replace it...

This problems seems to come from a bad hold of the IR laser diode inside your laser. This is quite hard to fix and to find the perfect position, and take a lot of time, but realisable (I've do that with one of mine).

Have you tryed to tap a little the laser when it is on? What's happen?

definately return it, I kept a high spec unit that had a similar problem from the get-go, sent it to a specialist to see what was up and found out the laser diod had been burning out. I never even turnted it on for more than 30 seconds. Now Arnold will not let me return it so I wasted a bunch of cash for what is now a 3mw unit.

You forgot to mention that this was the second unit that I had sent you and this occurred back in March. I practicaly begged you to send that one back as well but you decided not to, rightly assumming that I had you figured out and intended to refund your money rather than take any more punishment. Even my concept of customer service has it's limits. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Yea Blame the customer for recieving your defective garbage, way to go Arnold! BTW you told me all high spec units act strangely regarding the way they light up.

Perhaps if you sold a decent product the first time around you would not hear the complaint. And you supposedly tested my second unit before you shippe dit to me so thats BS too.
