what UPS or surge protector should i get ?

i need to replace 2 failed belkin surge protectors so im not too keen on that brand ! can you recommend any brands for surge protectors and a model or im considering a UPS eg this http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002RX6NY0/ its £79 ( and 1st on sale oct 2009 so surely theres a newer version ??? ) so will be a lot more than just a surge protector but gives me time to shut down a pc after a power failure. i need 6 to 8 plug sockets at least and id like a good guarantee like belkin offer of £175k protection if their surge protector fails to protect equipment from a lightning strike etc...in past ive twice has power surge through phone line into modem which scared the hell out of me with a really loud bang !

I would suggest a CyberPower over APC. A UPS is a good investment, they can protect your hardware and your data. They will also shut your PC down automatically if you're not home.
