What would happen if I put a 1400 cell into a regular AA charger?

Would it explode? I got my 1400 batteries from dealextreme but the charger I ordered went on backorder so that doesn't do me much good having these batteries and no charger...what i'm wondering is it ok to charge them in a regular aa charger or would something bad happen?

Someone who knows a lot more than me will probably chime in shortly, but, best case scenario is that it won't work. I hate to think of the worst case scenario. I'm assuming the "1400" cell you are referring to is Li-ion.

If you're referring to 14500 Lithium Ion cells...

DO NOT PUT THEM IN A CHARGER THAT IS NOT SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THEM!

LiIon batteries can explode violently when mis-used. Search CPF for more details about the dangers.

nothing good would come of it, in any way.
it could even discharge it below what is good for it.
for ni-mhy and ni-cd and rechargable alkaline, they are somewhat similar, but li-ion is so totally different , in chemistry and voltage.

You don't give much info, lithium cells? Or are they nimhs, But if they aren't AA cells in the chemistry designed for your charger then don't do it.
