If the size doesn't dissuade you and if FM has another run of his 4.5" PAR36 head, a Mag mod using that giant head can be a tremendous thrower. Couple the head with a 13V GE4509, GEQ4509, or Martek 4509Q small plane landing light lamp. This does exceed your ~75W draw requirement. It looks like 8xPowerGenix may slightly underdrive a 4509. Perhaps a bored 3D Mag mod using 12xElite 1700s is better (if and when 12AA->3D holders become available).

Here are some example beam shots, comparing a GE4509 (4.5" PAR36 head) vs FM1909 (2.5" Throwmaster head) vs Osram 64440IRC (2.5" Throwmaster head).
Whoa! That is some serious fire! Very impressive. Hope to graduate to a projects like those some day.

Wow, I have to admit that I am very surprised at the difference between the GE4509 with the PAR36 head and the FM1909 with the TM head. I would have expected the FM1909/TM combo to perform better.

Thanks so much for sharing. That is an excellent comparison. I especially like the comparison between the 64440 and the FM1909, both using the TM head. It really demonstrates what a huge difference the bulb makes.

Cheers,
BG

The 1909 focuses very tightly with the Throwmaster, but it just can't keep up with the huge, bright hot spot from the 4509. The 1909 lights up a tiny area of the tree. The 4509 lights up everything.

I probably could get more out of the 64440IRC, but with 5xIMR26500, I'm limited as to the Vbulb setting to use while still getting decent regulation. I probably could go to 19.5V or even 20.0V for Vbulb, but I doubt I'd run in regulation for very long, if at all.

Here is a head-on shot of the PAR36 vs Throwmaster:
