Awesome.

Did you post somewhere what the sweet spot is for drive current on the XML2?

I think you had mentioned that the XML U3's would take more current than the XML2, was that right?

I would say 4A is the best current for XM-L2. Xm-Lu3 is a bit brighter when pushed to ridiculousness level around 6A.

Why do you say 4A is best? Is that because of he balance of lumens and run time? Should I be changing my order (if you haven't done it yet)? Thanks Vinh.

4A is best for XM-L2 because it's the balance of everything IMO.

Hello Wayne. I have a few questions for you. Hopefully they'll help out others as well.
1. Is there any additional heat sinking mass on your mule modules? Is the heat sinking any better than your normal modules?
2. Is it possible to cram 4 XML-L2s in a p60 mule?
3. Can you make a mule using the new MT-G2?
4. I saw you mentioned that you cannot source an appropriate driver to push the MT-G2. Why can't you just stack some chips to increase the drive current? Am I missing something here? Also, do you have a p-60 sized reflector than will work with the MT-G2?
5. If you can make a drop in using the MT-G2, do you have a price in mind?
6. Lastly, how much for that sweet MT-G2 modded masterpiece pro 2? I want.. No wait.. I NEEDS it!

Re: vinhnguyen54 D26 P60 Dropn Ins All Copper Bonded PCBs even XP-G2s, MT-G2 ;-)

1. YES. The Quad PCB sit on large solid solder fill
2. NO Quad P60 XML PCB I know
3. YES
4. MT-G2 is a 6V LED while other Cree are 3.9V
5. $48
6. You can buy mine for $75 Shipped :). I will retrofit it to take on the heat better.

The MT-G2 is a 6V LED. 6.5V is the max we should drive it to. However direct driving the LED with 2*18650= 8.4V so that is a bit much! May be that's one reason why the Pro-2 MTG2 is so freak bright and hot. Until someone make a 5-6A 6V driver I would say stick to XML.

Both my dropins arrived yesterday, I got them wrapped and in my two favorite hosts, and holy cow. The XML2 dropin gives the Nitecore ec25 a run for its money with half the reflector size. The xpg2 dropin throws better than my Xpe dropins and lights of similar size. Thanks Vinh

i saw that you were playing with MTG2's, would one fit and be awesome in a Maelstrom S12?

The S12 would be nice but still no driver :-(. Wished it was 3.9V like other Crees.

Yeah me too, I keep hoping for an Mtg2 light. But they may become outdated before the drivers hit the market :(

Hey, vinh, do you think you can get one of those EDC+ triples and mod it into a single mode and drive it at 4.2A?

I like XP-G2 more than Nichia 219 but a lot wouldn't agree. SC600 doesnt take a drop in and it woulndt fit either. The drop in would fit in a Surefire host though. Boring to 18650 only allow it to take the larger 18650 battery. You can run 17670 if you don't want to bore it.
