The collars seem to work great with aspherics.

IIRC, they describe a 70 mm bezel, so a 66 mm lens might be right.

The large is $69 though. Yikes, that adds a lot of cost to the light.

Re: WTS: XsearcherVN - Dedicated Aspheric Thrower

Everyone is talking abtou this waiven collar. Do you guys think it would work in the Xsearcher?

I see that sal415 said the small collar is too large. sal415, just to be clear, did you try the small collar in a Nightmaster or Xsearcher?

As far as the collar goes if you could properly implement it you should see a significant increase in surface brightness. When I say that I mean that the amount of intensity you gain by de-doming the LED should be similar to properly implementing the collar. In addition, it also has the effect of lowering the CCT.

Here are some made up numbers for the sake of example. So let's say you got 150,000 candela with XP-G2 at 3 amps in a Xseacher or Nightmaster. Then if you de-domed that same LED in the same light now you have 250,000-300,000 candela. Now if you properly implement a Wavien collar in that same light you have 500,000-600,000 candela. :poke: Got it? Again, these numbers are just made up but I am using real percentage increase examples based on the tests of other CPFers.

I've tried in the xsearcher and the DBS and from what I've seen the nightmaster is the same as the xsearcher just the lens is different I've spoken with Michael at wavien and they might beable to cut them down it is worth utilizing it makes a huge difference

^That is nice you were able to talk to someone at Wavien. :) Yeah, it would be great to have a collar that would work easily with these Dereelights since they are so readily available.

You guys do realize that it's not a " set it and forget it" operation putting the collar in place, and that it's a very tricky procedure as explained to me by another modder.

Yes it is tricky adjusting the collars very time consuming but with all the time and the collar does give it a warmer tint just like dedoming

Also the collar has to sit on top of pill not in the lens cavity

That makes sense in order to obtain and keep proper focus. So was the smallest collar too wide to fit on the pill? The height wasn't a problem as far as hitting the lens was it?
