I just ordered a Vanson charger.
I see that a lot of chargers now fully discharge the batteries before they charge them up again. Is this a good idea with NiMH batteries? I thougth it actually shortened the life of a NiMH battery when you fully discharge them? I have seen threads here where people don't recommend using a NiMH battery in a regulated flashlight because it will shorten the life of the battery if you keep using the battery until the battery is completely drained.
Isn't this cycling more of a feature for NiCD batteries to prevent the memory effect? I didn't think you had to cycle NiMH batteries like this. Will a charger that drains the batteries before recharge damage my NiMH batteries?
