thanks guy, but the upgrade cost $35.00 then add shipping.
the G2 only costs about $36.00.

I was looking for some type of bulb replacement mod.

I have an luxeon III emitter i pulled out of an crap made in china flashlight.

but i would prefer to buy something to drop in. but $35.00 is way to much.

thanks.

There are no off the shelf upgrades other than BOG or G&P LED modules for the G2. You are correct though about the G2's ability to withstand rough treatment!

Unfortunately there are no cheap fixes in the Flashlight world, it's just some lights are better quality than others. As with everything in life you get what you pay for!!

That IS the bulb replacement mod. You can't replace JUST the bulb. Take your G2 apart and you will notice that the lamp assembly is all fused together. You have to replace the entire assembly, bulb, reflector, spring, etc.

The LED module will pay for itself eventually in batteries.

can you buy an SureFire G2 with the luxeon upgrade aready done.

as it might be a bit cheaper, instead of buying an G2 and then replacing the lamp module.

thanks.

In fact, the LED module will pay for itself in batteries (assuming $1.25 apiece) and lamp assemblies (assuming $17 apiece) after about 23 hours.

I have just priced the luxeon III module for an SureFireG2 at BUGOUTGEAR and it is $35.00 + $12.00 shipping to the UK.

SureFireG2 $35.00
shipping at $15.00
luxeon III mod at $35.00
shipping at $12.00

total $97.00 :broke:

I think i will give it a miss this time.

suggestions welcome.

reagrds.

It is a lot, but you can find better prices, I think, and you end up with two different lights. You'll still have the P60 for increased throw. I have a G2 with the drop-in in my glove compartment, with a spares carrier that has several batteries and the P60. You can get about the same light by waiting for the Mag C and D size LED's coming out....but at three times the size.

Drop-ins are more for playing around with flashlights, than for saving money unfortunately.
The best of my 3 and 5W drop-ins are still beaten by my Pelican 2390HA3 3W.
This torch may well be the same as the standard non-HA3 M6 LED, new 3W version.
The Sandwich Shoppe has many Luxeon pills for AA MiniMags that may do even better than the P-series compatible drop-ins.
One of those and a $10 MiniMag are not so cheap either, but the light quality is cutting-edge, way above what you usually find on store shelves.
Cpf Lights-Sell forum could be the place to pick up a good value new light.
If you already have a G2, a cheaper way to make it rechargeable (and keep a similar beam quality), is to use a G&P G5R 3.7V globe and a 17670 battery.
btw, the 3W BOG drop-in is in the same ballpark as the (1W!) Fenix L1, the 5W drop-in is similar to the (overdriven 1W!!!) Streamlight 4AA ProPoly LED, in other words, an Led globe-replacement thingy costs almost as much -and sometimes even more than a whole light....
