It does. But then again I am using unprotected 17670. Decent run time. Get the flood beam shaper also. The flood is a beauty.

C2+MC123 = 3 123 cell body, with 3 R123 cells you will instaflash the MN16 LA. The MN16 works optimally with 2 series Lion, but the R123 cells dont have the capacity to feed the current demands of the MN16 and WAY beyond what the protection circuit allows.

The major consideration is current draw, the MN16 optimally draws 2.65A of current, a bit of a heavy hitter and certainly UNsafe for R123 cells (load is OVER 3C!!!) and would be borderline/risky with 2x 17500 cells (2.4C). Only safe way to go is add another MC123 for 4 cell 123 body and use 2 protected 17670 cells. UNprotected will avoid multiple clicking, but be careful not to overdischarge cells. This would only give 35 minutes runtime approx.

The best bet if you wanted to run the MN16 in the KT2 is a Tranquility Base 2x 18650 body, but you would need to get an Aleph or E-series Surefire tailcap and 18650 cells to finish the package. 45-50 mins estimated runtime from this combination, and within the safe limits of protected cells.

Might want to consider the MN60 LA as an alternative. It needs 3 series LiIon to function, but with R123 its best to go UNprotected otherwise multiple clicks are almost a given. It only requires 1.6A of current, is almost identical in brightness, with a tighter more intense center spot. 3x R123 can drive it for 20-25 minutes. Fits the KT2 perfectly.

Notice from the fellow's pic: he is using a 3-cell body plus extender for 4-cell total and UNprotected pair of 17670s. Thats the bare minimum config that will work. 2 18650s give much better runtime.

Just say NO before you even try: because THREE R123 will certainly instaflash the bulb, just a Russian roulette whether or not your protected circuits kick in before the bulb blows, dont even try.
