That time of year again for the $$$ question for this past year and how much will you spend in the next year.

I stated last year that I would only purchase three new lights for 2006 and mod existing ones. For 2006, I purchased the following lights:

Fire~FlyIII (keychain EDC) with spare chargers/batteries $160
MillerMods 1.7 watt L1P as a bike helmet light w/2-stage switch $85
Total $245

Mods
HA-III bored 2D Mag
Kiu HA-III strike bezel (two of them)
8AA to 2D battery adapter
Glass lens
MaxFlex boost current regulator (pending)
Cree XRE LEDs (blew up most of them)
UWAJ LuxeonIII LEDs (modded MM L1P)
Four McR19 Flood reflectors
PXR copper heat sink for Cree LEDs (pending)
Thermal epoxy etc
Total $400

Accessories (Batteries, chargers etc) $20

(My Peaks this year were provided by work so I can take my own home. Peak Baltic AAA and 2AAA along with UV Kilamanaro AA 7 LED)

Total for 2006 $665

2007 Projections

New Flashlights
Cree AAA multiple output light $70 (??)
Cree AA multiple output light (x2) $100 (??)
Cree Peak Pacific head low output $45 (??)
Total $215

Mods
6 Cree XRE Q3 bins $80 (??)
3 SSC P4 U bin LEDs $30 (??)
Mod charges for MM L1P XRE $50 (??)
Mod charges for Fire~FlyIII XRE $60 (??)
Aspherical lens $25 (??)
McR17 XR reflectors (x2) $40

Misc. things $25
Total $310

Accessories
Maha C9000 battery analyzer $60
16 Eneloop low discharge AA cells $50
4 Eneloop low discharge AAA cells $10
AW 750mAH RCR123 batteries (x2) $15
Total $135

Total projected spending for 2007 is $660

So what did you blow in 06 and do you see spending going up, going down or staying even? Will you spend more on mods, less on mods or get into modding lights this year? It is good to see were you stand, or maybe not since your spouse might read this thread.

Well depends, if I factor in the cost of if/when I sold lights. So say I just add the total of what I spent. HD45, Chameleon, Tri-Blaster 3XK24C, K2-LongThrow, Surefire PKEF-A, Surefire PK Milspec Kroma, 118 LED Chinese light, Maxlite, HLX-712L, Surefire L7, Surefire L6, Three Surefire U2's.....I think I might be missing a few. In other words, a couple grand easily.

But, I've since sold or traded the Surefire PK Milspec Kroma, L6, all three U2's and a couple others.....2007 will not be spent of flashlights, or at least not near as much. I need to save for a house :p :)

Mods, I probably spent a $100 total. Will probably do at least that much in 2007. I'm making myself my own version of a overall output box and have just ordered a light meter to measure that and throw.

Several of my lights were bought via UK dealers, others cost a bit more due to shipping...hence some high prices...

I was feeling guilty about how much I spend until Now! I only spent 5 or $600 bucks...so I'll probable go for $1000 next year.

Forget it. I have not the energy to do this and I am not sure if I even want to. Just on 2 lights this year, I spent $900.00 on 2 lights (M6 and McCree Titanium) just over Christmas and this doesn't scratch the surface.

Ouch.

Next year, I am planning on some possible mods for my McGizmo's and the following:
  • HDS New Offering
  • Interesting Surefire Offerings
  • Arc's New Offering
You know, keeping it basic.

Well I am sure I spent too much but it was fun. Since I only started on the path to enlightenment in September this year the list only goes back that far.

Led Lenser David 15
Fenix L2T
Fenix L1T
Fenix P1
Fenix LOP SE
Fenix E1
Fenix LO-Ti x2
Mini M@g
Surefire L2
Orb Raw Ns
Exolion Ti
CR2 Ion (green)
CR2 Ion XT in Ti (in transit)
FFIII Ti (being made (fingers crossed))
Batteries and chargers

Grand Total of $ 1809.00 USD

Wow, It had been a while since I added it up. Well lets hope I can control it a little better in 2007.

I am already setting my sights on the V3 Gatlight, Brass Lion Cub and a Mc Cree for 2007. Not doing so well at that control thing am I?

Probably around $200. Civictor, Fenix E1, E0, L0Pse, MiniMag 3AA, AAP 3 watt, Task Force 1AA, plus a few odd jobs. Likely spent $100 in gasoline just cruising to see what's new.

Spy 005, $369.50
K2000R - $401
E2W - $56
My Little Friend, $110 (plus shipping)
D-Mini - $58
Draco - $130 + 40 for Cree Upgrade = $170 (not including batteries and shipping)
Mini Mag LED 3AA - $15.98 (+tax)
Jil Intelli UX1J - $125
LR12 (from waion--ultrafire?) = $28.50
Ultrafire Jil copy = - $23
LR05 (waion) - $26 (about, I thinik...)
L4 with extra McE2s, 4 Pilas & charger - $160 (what a deal! Thanks Beamhead!)
Barbrolight U09 - $150 (another great deal!)
Fenix LO Ti - $125 (or so)
Fifth Unit 1w/3w head lamp $12.50 (great, but could use a diffuser)

Yikes! I guess I've spend over $1800, when you add up all the batteries and stuff. The LOP--what that this year or last? I'd have to add that, too, if it was this year.

In my own defense, I did sell the K2000R, a Firefly III, a Gatlight V1, and bunch of miscellaneous things. I'm probably going to sell some more, too, although, I am planning on buying a few more....just a few.

There are also some flashlight gift purchases that I made, but since I didn't keep any of them, they don't count.

Oh, and for 2007, I don't plan on spending that much. Mark my words, no more than $800. (I was actually planning on typing $500, but a few key strokes before I typed the number, I impulsively extended my limit!)

I certainly spent less in 2006 than I did in 05. Living in a broken city is more expensive and I no longer have the same disposable income.

After my experiences I bought a fistful of Photon Freedoms in NV Green at half price from batteryjunction.com -- there are probably no lights made that can compete with these lights in...er...discretion. With a cr2032 instead of 2 cr2016s these lights will enable you to hide from ANYONE. (maybe even Icebreak! :D ) I like the Covert nose and I have also developed a Sub-Covert nose which is even more constrained.

IsaacHayes made a killer throw king in ~495 for me on a M/\G host.

I also bought 3.7 lifetimes worth of cr2016s and cr2032s. I bought $100 worth of Eneloops in AA and AAA from hgregg -- which at their great prices is a handfull of cells. I bought more NiCad Cs and Ds from Amondo. Oh yeah, and still more cr123s.

I guess I probably spent $500-$700 this year on lights, cells, etc. While it was less than I spent the year before I'll say this -- this years purchases were far more pointy than they have been in the past. I bought lots more of the small lights that performed so well in the aftermath of katrina.

I bought 3 tank searchlights, a $3K+ genset to run 'em and the materials to mount 'em. Was Beastie this year or last- I forget. :green: No "plans" for next year, but something always seems to come-up.
