I was shopping at the local hardware superstore (Menards). They still had Christmas stuff at half off. Many of the LED sets had push to test buttons in the box. I took some home and viola, there is a 3 x AA battery box inside with three AA batteries.
This if FYI for anyone that wants those type carriers and hasn't bought any LED Christmas lights recently.
