Very nice M16! I'm sure it took a lot of effort for all those shots.

I have the DexLight and last night, shone it outside at some trees in my backyard for the first time since I've had it and was very impressed.

For a relatively small light, it has a nice big spot with generous side spill.

How do you like the UI on the X1.

Excellent pictures.

I have this light, and love it.

Personally, I could do without some of the modes, but it's a great light anyway, and has become my most-often used light.

I can look into my DX X.1 to verify, but on a similar light I unscrewed the clickie and used a pair of small needle nose pliers inserted into the two dimples/holes of the screw down retaining ring that holds the clickie guts in place. I then unscrewed this ring a few turns. The rubber clickie cover was then easy to pull out, an new one was pressed onto place and the interior retaining ring was then screwed down tight.

There is a plastic retaining ring with dimples like in the picture above. Screw that out and pull up on the spring. There is a white clicky switch then, that will fall out. Now unscrew the brass cup out, that also has dimples, and push the rubber cap out.

I like mine a lot, but:
- What is the 'default' mode? It just seems like Max to me. Why not make it the same mode that you switched off in?
- Why the warning about Max with Li-Ions? Is it heat? They seem to be implying that there is a degradation of the LED due solely to the voltage.
- I still like it a lot.

I, for one, do not care for the UI on this light, at least in normal mode. It goes low - hi - med low - highest. High and highest are very close. There was very little difference on a 50 yard target. Its unintuitive, goes back and forth, dim bright dim bright. May be better just to leave it on advanced which I think is a perfect copy of the JetBeam MKIIX. In this mode, the light always comes on at full brightness. But if you want dim with first on, then its click on, with two quick pumps on the tailcap and you're in lowest mode before high ever reached full brightness.

But I really do not care for the normal mode on this light.

Unfortunately (because it's got a lot of really great qualities) I've stopped using this light.

It's just way too complicated and requires too much thought.

Sucks because in a lot of ways it was my best light.

I've done that. Then used Detoxit and
Progold on the brass cup and on the exposed metal parts of the switching mechanism and it still wont light up. There is a fresh alkaline battery and shorting with a paper clip will light it up.
Can someone help with an idea ?

assuming the switch isn't dead, you may have the brass cup in too tight. It isn't making contact with the end of the body and therefore isn' completing the circuit.
