I need to make a simple high power voltage booster. It would need to handle around 100w. I need from 12v dc (input) to around 18v dc (output). Any ideas? Keeping this cheap is key, efficiency is less important than cost, but I don't want a 30w heater either.
I would like to make a search light for a car and run it off the cigarette lighter socket. But the voltage there is too close to 12v to make use of any halogen bulbs. Boosting this to 18v would be good. Adjustable V would be great, but not really useful.
