Do you have a solution for carrying a spare AAA on a keychain?
I've been looking at keychain pill holders on eBay, but they all seem to be a little too small or way too big. It would be nice to find something that is just right. I read a post where someone gave instructions to convert a chapstick container, but I'm hoping I can find something better.

Crappy supermarket 1-AAA light. Remove the whole head, substitute with cap, and you have your AAA holder. :p
That's a great idea, but where do you get the cap? I just tried a chapstick cap on a L0p body and it's too wide. It does, however, fit snugly on the head as a diffuser.

KD Buckle or EO1
That way you have a backup light too.
I thought of that, but it's too bulky. Besides, I'd probably want to buy another Fenix. I've had bad experience with Kai Domain, would prefer to avoid them. They're great until you have a problem.

Cut down to size, stick in flashlight body. :)

I think Peak Led Solutions offered some nylon plugs for that battery tubes, which save a little length and weight compared with a whole flashlight head. I'd suggest putting a backup light (maybe a Photon) on your keys instead of a spare AAA cell.

I have a couple of Fauxtons on there, one with a 2032 and one with 2 x 2016. My low light needs are covered.

I have an arc clone that is 2.5 inches long including the attaching lug, I doubt you will get much shorter than that.

I went to Walmart and looked at the AAA lights. None qualified, so I bought a Chapstick and modified it. The Chapstick is a shade over 2.5". An Arc clone at 2.5" would be perfect.

The Chapstick solution is excellent. No wasted space. No metal. Very light. Ding proof. Easy to do. Cheap ($1.00).

Insructions to convert Chapstick:
remove cap
screw chapstick all the way up and remove
remove plastic button that chapstick rode on
carefully remove bottom plug and cut off stick
re-insert button and insert battery
put cap back on
from the bottom push the button up so that the battery fits perfectly
from the right angle you can see the button through the body
drill a hole just below the button so that the split ring will support the button
insert the split ring
insert the bottom plug

I already made some research about this. I wanted to carry an extra battery on my keychain. I found some pretty cool stuff!
