I have seen that some lights have a 1 lens system vs. other lights having a 3 lens system. I imagine that the 3 lens system is probably better though I don't understand the principal behind why.

I currently have a Romisen RC-C6 II from Shiningbeam and I really like it.

I was considering a Lens - Light after reading a review on it. The web page states that they have a 1 or a 3 lens system, which brings me back to my question.

Which is better? Why?

Thank you!

I'll take a guess. A three lens system can better focus the light. For example most lenses for a camera (like an SLR system) have multiple lens elements to better focus the light.

Now I suppose one *possible* way to make a real badass aspheric lens for a flashlight is to get an SLR lens and mount it in front of the emitter. You would mount the lens backwards with the objective lens closest to the emitter.

Camera lenses gather light they don't project it...the more glass light passes through, the more dissipated. Do you want spot or flood...spot long ranges, flood for close up?
