Hi guys,

I've caught the titanium framelock bug and am looking at possibly getting an Emerson HD-7. Does anybody happen to own one, and if so what are your opinions of it?

I do have one area of concern.. I own a Mini CQC-7 and it has a small amount of blade play. I've read that almost all Emerson's have this. Does the HD-7, being a framelock, have a better lock up?

I don't own a HD-7, but the framelock is MUCH better when it comes to lockup than a liner lock. I do own an Emerson CQC-10 and an Emerson Combat Karambit. They both have abslutely no blade play. You may have to tighten the pivot screw a lot more to eliminate the blade play.

One bit of advice is to take your Emerson apart and lubricate the pivot point and washers with some kind of oil or grease. You can use firearm lubricant if you want. This will allow you to tighten the pivot while still allowing you to easily open the knife.

I had a 2.6" liner lock Emerson Karambit with no sloppiness at all. A $300 knife should have a good blade fit.
