I've been carrying my new SC51 as my EDC for the past week, and I couldn't be more pleased. Great assortment of modes, and the high is REALLY bright.

Which brings me to my point. The SC51 is rated on high for 200 OTF lumens for 0.9 hours (54 minutes), although I only get about 45 minutes out of mine on highest. The brightest 2xAA light currently available, the EagleTac P20A2 Mk II, is rated for 230 OTF lumens for 1.5 hours on high.

The difference in brightness would not be noticeable, and the runtime of the 2xAA light is exactly double that of the single-AA SC51.

There doesn't seem to be any reason to buy any of the currently-available 2xAA lights. The SC51 offers equivalent brightness, equivalent runtime (if you have a spare battery), and is a smaller package that's easier to carry on an EDC basis.

Too bad -- I'd love to buy a 2xAA light offering 300 OTF lumens, with a medium and a very low low, but no such animal currently exists.
