Im a mechanical guy and Im slowly getting my feet wet in electronics. I am making off road lights. I am planning to use 4 sst-90 per light, each with a dedicated reflector. Being that an alternator/battery supplies ~12v-14.8v, I figure this will put 4 sst-90s in their sweet spot.

Now my question is, how do I drive them. Can I just direct drive em basing their amp draw off their data sheet or should I really have a constant current driver in there? If a driver is involved, can anyone point me in the direction of how to make one and what components to buy (I can solder and breadboard just fine).

I'm fully aware of how much heat they will give off and have that covered.

I made a 6 p7 flashlight powered by 8 18650 going through DX p7 drivers before so I have a pretty good idea in heat management from led's. Can show pics and vids of the light if anyone is interested.
