Hi there. I have sort of a noob question for you LED aficionados.

Im just starting to learn about the more in depth aspects of LEDs and was researching Crees to sort of memorize their different models and what the bins mean etc. I googled Cree XR-E and have noticed that some of the obvious XR-Es that pop up have the yellowish die, gold wires, and a silver (aluminum I assume) background (cant find a better word for it), while others have the exact same set up but look as though everything inside the dome is covered in the yellowish stuff that covers the actual die (which is the phosphor they add to create white light from a blue LED?).

Anyways, I was just curious why they'd be the same model and yet one looked one way and the other looked different. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to pictures on other sites, but if I am I could post examples of what I'm talking about.

Thanks!
