I want a preon 1 with an XP-E for better throw, I don't want the revo because I want a clicky, has anyone opened up a preon, or done an emitter change, if so how hard was it? Any advice or thoughts.
Preon 1 mods, can it be done ?

Bump, with the hope that someone has opened one of these up
This link, NEUTRAL moded COPPER MARATAC AAA *LOTS OF PICS* might help. I'm guessing Maratac, ITP A3 EOS, and Preons are similar in construction 'cuz the pcb under the head from each one looks the same to me.
I've tried to unscrew the pill in mine but even with a fine point split ring pliers I couldn't get it to start moving, I didn't boil it though that might help. Maybe after I mess it up after a few more years of EDC it will be looser.

Thanks for the advice, I think I will try this, I've been on an XR-E kick lately, e1e,e2e and an HDS all now have R3 XR-Es residing in them, love the "throwy" beams, been pushing them to 1.4 amps without issue.
