Thank you for the reply. I don't know anything about building lights but am trying to build a bright headlamp for coyote hunting. What is the star? How do I connect them in parallel? What does series mean? Sorry for being a pain. No one makes a bright red led headlamp, so I am attempting to build one

The red color kinda defeats the high-output option. I have a NiteCore headlamp with the alternate mode of two little red LEDs. How about a regular headlamp with a red filter? You'll get better output that way.

LED's have very little red wavelength so a red filter is not going to pass much through.

The Cree XP-E or XP-E2 are easy to get hold of.

You'll need to put a new driver in also - 1 to 1.4A will be pretty bright.

Without seeing inside the light I can't tell you what sized star it needs or driver diameter.
