As long as there are no electronics in there, you can leave the part in a bowl of nail polish remover for a few hours. This is how i remove Arctic Alumina epoxy from metal parts, so it should work for most glues too.
Nail polish remover works great but it's pricey and your lady friend won't be happy when she finds out where it all went. Just buy a pint of Acetone, same thing without the perfume. Available at the hardware store.
For parts that cannot be submersed, I use toothpicks or skewers that are made of bamboo. Bamboo works well on tough deposits without abrading the metal.
