Calling any chemists, engineers, or knowledgeable CPF members. Do batteries degrade less if held at an even temperature or a fluctuating, but equal, average temp?

In other words, is a fluctuating temperature of 70 - 40F harder on a cell than a steady 55F? Assume the cell spends equal time at each temperature.

Does stability of storage temperature affect reactivity or is temperature, alone, the greatest arbiter?

Stable temperature will yield lower degradation than the varying case.

Last question: It's all about temperature.
