I have just a bare LS emitter and I wanted to mount it to my heat sink. But what should I use to insulate the back of the bare emiter? I know they use glue in the LS/O between the PCB and the die, but that seems like a poor heatsink. Should I use artic silver?
Thanks!

Find some of those thin Mica Insulators that are used for high power devices such as TO3 and cut them down, Mica is a very good conductor of heat and yes - use Arctic Silver, it is a better conductor of heat than the normal White "goo" you get from Radio Shack

The mica sounds interesting. I have been successful by applying a thin coat of arctic silver to the sink slug of the emitter and letting it cure for about 1/2 hour and then gluing it down to the sink with more arctic silver.
