Hi Badhorsey,
Before buying anything like this on Ebay I would read about such purchases over in Sam's Laser FAQ site. Usually these unit are sold on Ebay because they are growning old & weak and are at the end of their useful life.

Yes, I've seen that already. Even so... £100 for a blue Argon Ion is still a good deal, even if it's not as powerful as it once was.

Looking at the pictures it looks like he did really long exposures to get the beam shots. This means that your eye won't see as a bright a beam. Maybe not see the beam at all unless the room is dusty...
