Did I mention AAA in Kazakhstan?

Got Arc AAA lights for everyone on a team of us that went to Kazakhstan to work on an economic development project. They sang my praises for months afterwards! I mean nothing like having a great light on your keychain when you're in a country where stairways, etc, are not routinely lighted. (I...

    Surefire L1 Digital Lumamax: FlashlightReviews.com

Pyrex Any thoughts on why the Pyrex lens? I know Pyrex takes heat well. Maybe it's scratch-resistant. But having dropped beakers and other Pyrex containers, I can say it's certainly not shatter-resistant, which I would think is important in a Rough Use light.

Arc AAA+LSH+Elelektrolumens Blaster II good combo

Pretty much covers the bases. Tiny light that takes no space, for close-up and walking (Arc AAA). Small light that has medium battery life and a wonderful pool of light plus good throw (Arc LS). Large (heavy) light that has extreme battery life and tight, excellent throw (Elektrolumens Blaster...

LS, in moon mode, the same brightness as AAA?

My unscientific observation is... OK, I finally ran the new LS into moon mode... I think. It was definitely dimmer than usual, so I think it was in moon mode... My guess would be it's twice as bright as an AAA with a new battery. (Mostly due to the brighter hotspot.)

Efficiency of Luxeons v. other lights

So LEDs are for flashlights then... ... since it seems their advantages are ruggedness and efficiency at small sizes. I have a reading lamp that is definitely some kind of HID. I believe it's MicroSun brand. I'd love to know exactly what kind of technology/bulb it uses to see if the bulbs are...

Efficiency of Luxeons v. other lights

I currently use a 300-watt halogen torchiere-style (reflecting off the ceiling) light for the living room. Would it be at all practical to use LS's (1-watt?, 5-watt?) to do the same thing? If LEDs use 1/3 the power of halogen for the same amount of light (and I don't think they're NEAR that...

What is the attraction to the SureFire L4?

Surefire confusing? I'm an ARC fan myself, but a couple of times I've gone to the Surefire web site and have found it confusing. For example, I just spent 10 minutes or so trying to find any mention of the L4 and couldn't find it. I've tried this with a couple of other models mentioned in...

    On the lens protection film

[ QUOTE ] gyverpete said: It must be a small amount because I couldn't see a significant reduction. [/ QUOTE ] I wonder. I took a walk last night with the new LS without the protector and it seemed to be noticeably brighter at longer distances. (Not WAY brighter, but enough that I think I...

    Running Luxeons on AC power?

Enerleds MR-16 available yet? I've seen the specs, etc, but haven't found any place that sells it yet. Is it available and what's the cost? In my office, we have three overhead tracks, each with 5 MR-16s and it gets a little hot at times. A couple have burned out and it would be cool to...

Fourth of July was a great LS time

Peter, This small-town show was cool. There were hundreds (thousands maybe) of cars, but we were basically able to park in the field then walk 100 feet or so to the end of the row of cars and set up for the fireworks. The launch site was only about 1/3-mile away by my calculations from the...

Fourth of July was a great LS time

I just used "3W" instead of the LS5 (I think it is) which is a 5W under-driven at 3W if I remember correctly. So I assume it'll be out this winter.

LS, in moon mode, the same brightness as AAA?

The LS's moon mode being a little brighter than an AAA on new batteries is great news. Depending on the situation at hand, that's definitely useful light. (As a side note, your remarks on the AAA's "moon mode" being so dim encourages me to make doubly sure I bring spare AAA's on an upcoming...

**I don't care for the extra features of the LS 4

Re: **I don\'t care for the extra features of the L [ QUOTE ] nonbox said: I believe in the keep it simple philosophy. ... Both lights can be carried together easily and the arc aaa is inexpensive. [/ QUOTE ] There is more to keep it simple than modes. Instead of having to click once or...

Fourth of July was a great LS time

I visited some friends out in the country for the Fourth and a bunch of use went to the local fireworks display. It was much more fun than packing like sardines onto the Mall in DC! Plus it was dark enough that it was good test of the new LS. The more I use the LS, the more I am just amazed at...

LS, in moon mode, the same brightness as AAA?

Since getting some AAA's and now an LS, I've been going back through older threads and found this one. It seems we only got one partial answer before the thread veered in another direction. Any other inputs from long-time users? In comparison to the AAA, how bright would you say the LS moon...
