    Polishing epoxy

I've used jeweler's rouge to polish the edges of cut acrylic sheet for years, although I've never tried it on epoxy. Blue jeweler's rouge is recommended for plastic. Your local art or hobby store would be a good source. And, as greenLED said, use increasingly finer sandpaper.

    Writeright alternative

You can also try matte frisket films, available at art or hobby stores. These are very thin, low-tack mylar or vinyl sheets designed for airbrush masking. Frisket film comes in matte and gloss finishes. I use matte frisket film for diffusion and also to protect flashlight lenses.

    Reflector Restoration?

Good thinking. Model builders are using chrome paints; they'd probably have good advice on which ones won't melt plastic. I know Alclad's chrome paint can be used on Lexan, but I don't know what reflectors are made of. Perhaps another CPFer has a good recommendation for a model builder's site or...

    Reflector Restoration?

Try googling "chrome paint." There are several chrome paints available on the market, among them paints from Alclad and Alsa. Not quite as reflective as chrome but much more reflective than silver/aluminum.

Signing off for a while... FR

Thanks for your hard work and for your excellent site, Doug. Your site and ledmuseum not only made me into a flashaholic, but perhaps have kept me and my kids safer in an emergency. Thanks very much for that, too. I'm looking forward to your return, and until then, take care of yourself.

    Light Advice requested

Another vote for the PALight. It's my favorite nightstand light; *quiet* rubber case, no roll 9V, and the constant glow mode makes it easy to find (mine's usually pointed at my watch). The Survival model has a focused beam with little sidespill, and I think the new Superbright model has a wider...

Worst thing to happen to your lights?

Sorry to hear that. I hate thieves. Not a big deal, but I once had a battery leak in my CMG Infinity. That bothered me because they don't make them anymore. Since then, I only use cheap lights for battery drainers.

Datexx Sentina Smart power failure light?

Does anyone have any experience with the Datexx Sentina Smart power failure light? I like the idea of a motion detector/automatic power failure light. It looks like the rechargeable batteries are replaceable as well. Can it be used as an extra charger? Craig at ledmuseum.com has given it five...

Coin battery WATERPROOF LED for Dog Collar?

I'm afraid to use flashing lights on my dogs because of the danger of seizures. My dogs have little Photon clones clipped to their Nite Ize Dawg collars. These Photon clones come in translucent cases so the whole case lights up. Cheapest price on these is 50 for $19.95 from Emilion...
