I was able to break it open by putting it in the freezer for a little while, mounting in a vice, and twisting with a pair of vice grips. Think carefully before buying a Nuwai, since they have no manufacturer warranty. I bought two TM-301X-5's from Amondotech and gave them away as Christmas presents.
