    PIR Solar Floodlight tips please

Well, since LED, solar panel and battery technology are advancing swiftly, expensive doesn't necessarily mean 'better'. Moreover, 'cheaper' items would be easier to upgrade if they fail, get vandalised or are superseded by superior technology. Of course, a light is not going to prevent...

    PIR Solar Floodlight tips please

Recently, my neighbour had his car 'broken' into and small items stolen. I say 'broken' into, because he admits he forgot to lock it... Anyway, our bloc of garages are behind our residential building and comprise a set of three (including mine) which are set back quite a way and another six...

Flashlights you have bought this month? 3/2010

I saw the Inova Bolt L2 at Target yesterday, half price at $21. Says 4.6 watts but I'm not sure which emitter it uses. Also doesn't seem to have a way to attach a wrist strap. All things considered, is it worth picking one up?

Reviews of TLE-6EXB (2-3 C/D Maglite Drop in)

I'm looking for a drop-in to make my unmarked 25 yr old Mag 3D more than just a pretty club. ;-)

Reviews of TLE-6EXB (2-3 C/D Maglite Drop in)

Has anyone got recent experience of the EXB? Can they now be considered reliable? Any other similarly priced drop-ins to recommend for a 3D?

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

Now when I switch to the green light the beam flickers and sometimes goes out completely. I wonder if this means the switch will fail altogether? :shakehead

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

The battery issue made me nervous, so I took the Energizer back to Wally-world today and swapped it for the Coleman Max RGW. Hmm, I'm not that impressed. Subjectively it doesn't seem as bright as the Energizer and it's quite floody with no focusing ability. Not so keen on the end-switch...

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

^^^^ Wooh, I hadn't even thought about battery replacement. Are any of these the right article? : http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=772 I noticed them at a different branch of Wally's today at $46xx- there were 4 on the hook.

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

^^^^^ Yeah I'm thinking mine might not be holding its charge when I get back from camping at the end of the week. :p So what would be a good stock P4 for about $25? Wally's have the three colour Coleman (white stated at 115 lumen) for abt $25 but it looks a bit flimsy.

So how many lumens does the original Luxeon produce with that power source? I used it on a longish walk last night and as I suspected it was a bit so-so. How much difference would the P4 make?

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

^^^^ Does that imply that the old emitter is inevitively trashed?

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

^^^^ Sounds straight forward enough. The thermal epoxy*-if it's used on the original, how do you remove it when de-soldering the old emitter? *Where do you buy that-Radio Shack?

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

That Seoul mod does sound good for a few bucks. I've used mine again tonight and it's not that bright. Anyone got a link to a full tutorial? I'm not so keen to take it apart and have $30 worth of junk. I used to put radios and amps together when I was a kid, so the soldering is not a problem...

    Energizer 3W rechargeable

Yes it does have NiMH cells and I wouldn't have paid $50 for it. I got it for $25 plus tax. The plug-in to charge rather than having to remove the cells clinched it for me.
