Cord or cordless, best underhood work light?

Sorry mods on the links, read the banner, didn't sink in, and I didn't see a way to describe the lights without links to the product. I do use a headlight, nothing as fancy as a ZL, but engine compartments are not as cooperative as many places so that a source on your forehead might not...

Interesting, bound to be the first of MANY.

Cord or cordless, best underhood work light?

Working under the hood of a car has to be one of the worst lighting situations. Frequently the ambient light level is high, even direct sunlight, but the structure of the hood etc makes the engine compartment a gloomy shadowed cave. Professional and enthuiast users both want the best without a...

Zebra Light SC52 Not exactly water proof. What gives?

Good to know the SC52 isn't perfect I was getting worried. Use it hard and testing is a good idea, but I wonder how many issues might cure themselves with a few heat cycles etc.? For my use I am never going to leave the light in water, so I still have the SC52 at the top of my list just waiting...

No real luck in search for better quality, but still cheap 3x AAA holders

Following another thread I tried to order some 3x AAA battery holders from Manafont, but they don't sell them anymore, so I picked a random Ebay vendor and bought some basic holders of the spring loaded end 58 to 60mm long variety, 4 Pieces Battery Holder Case Box 3 AAA LR03 UM-4 For Flashlight...

    Best 14500 NI-MH charger?

I have that same model as one of my chargers, it a good one. I keep an older dumb charger around for any cell that show 0v and won't be "seen" by the smart charger until they are charged a little in the dumb charger for 15 minutes or so.

My first expensive high end light, $13.29

I've got worse habits that are so far tolerated, but I do see the slippery slope, thinking about building something or modding something.

My first expensive high end light, $13.29

I decided to finally spend some serious money and buy a high end light, 1700-Lumen CREE XML T6 LED Adjustable Focus Aluminum Torch Flashlight 18650/AAA Ebay, $13.29 shipped from China, which took about 3 weeks. Wow, its bright, I doubt anything like 1700 lumen, but a quick comparison with my...

Finaly dmv caught on to these Illegal hids

I suffer through Calif smog checks, and haven't seen any issues regarding lights. Plenty of owners I know run Euro headlights instead of DOT without issue. Calif highway patrol though does have periodic roadside inspections where a steady stream of cars get towed away for various issues...

    Best 14500 NI-MH charger?

From the reviews of the Eneloop package at Amazon. "same old Sanyo MQN06 which is slow and only charges in pairs." Since you plan to use ONE battery at a time you will always have different amounts of remaining charge on each battery, so a single cell type charger is a MUCH better choice than...

iMax B6 instructions say never use with a battery with a protection circuit

Thanks, had me worried for a bit. I do plan to use extra caution and monitor the charging.

    Best 14500 NI-MH charger?

Please make it clear what battery you plan to use, Eneloops are not 14500 and 14500 are not NimH. My choice for single cell cheap charger was a La Crosse BC700, but its couple years or more old, so maybe better chargers are out now. Works fine with my Eneloops, but isn't for use with a Li Ion...

iMax B6 instructions say never use with a battery with a protection circuit

I was reading the manual for iMax B6 universal hobby charger I bought last week along with a pair of 14500 protected batteries, and it says Never use with the following types of battery, and in the list is a battery fitted with a protection circuit. What?

Is there a definitive answer as to why Eneloops are so hard to find?

Its an expensive premium battery most people have no clue about why they should buy them, so not on the store shelf, but anyplace that specializes in battery stuff likely has them, camera etc. stores. Every square inch of shelf space in a retail store is tracked for how much profit it makes, so...

How to tell if the Keeppower and XTAR batteries on Ebay are genuine?

I doubt if you can unless they obviously fail in some way. I've purchased batteries for a phone or a camera that had all the factory markings, holograms, etc. and were fakes or behaved like fakes. Trusted vendor is a good start, but lots of profit tend to work like water in finding cracks in the...
