    Flame activated Anodize coloring

OK finally got around to it at around one in the morning. No one warned me about the funny burning smell... LOL I was expecting it though lol. Before: Closest thing I could find for color comparison was an airsoft pistol--they both looked black without it. (Me and a few friends are playing...

    Flame activated Anodize coloring

Interesting. I have a dead Akoray 106 I'd be willing to toast. Unfortunately, any comparable programmable driver costs about as much a a new one. Its nice and green. Just gotta wait till no ones around before randomly throwing a flashlight in the oven...

    4xAAA direct drive?

Its got an R2 in it. I was thinking that using 4x1.5 might be OK because the current is limited by internal resistance.

    4xAAA direct drive?

I have a cheap-o 4x AAA light with on-4hz strobe. Only problem is the driver is dead so its outputing around 10 mah. Its really nice and low, just useless as a bike light. So my question is this. Is 4x 1.5v AAA safe for direct drive? Or should I just stick a wire between two contacts...

    Bike light for sister...

OKOKOKOKOK guys.... so. Yes, I really wish I had protected batteries. But now, I'm starting over. I think that something's wrong with the driver on that bike light. I just got a free flashlight from harbor freight at one of their sales. Its 9 cheap-o LEDs drawing about .4 amps at 4.5v, yet...

    Akoray 106 disassembly pics

So, I'm guessing its not waterproof? LOL In the end, I broke down and I ordered the "Nkoray" k109. I was hoping since DX had inaccurate descriptions, it'd also be a 3 mode programable. If not, its not the end of the world. I'm going to miss that 30 hrz strobe though!:D Kinda thinking about...

    Akoray 106 disassembly pics

OK bought the driver, attempted to solder it, first attempt=soldering fail. Plastic washer didn't fit. Wait a few weeks, sits on desk. Resoldered, put it all together, and turns out either the driver's dead or the wires it came with are dead. Wires feel fine, I'm guessing its the driver...

    Bike light for sister...

OK well my akoray's driver died so I can't use that for comparison. I melted the reflector and switch on the mini maglight so that's useless. Before and after's going to have to cut it. Gonna make use of just every pic I can find anyways lol. Light itself: The aluminum tray unscrews. Use...

    Akoray 106 disassembly pics

Honestly, thanks. I forgot about using flux and tinning. This is what happens when you learn to solder in school and then quickly learn to weld. Someone on DX's forums claimed that it was in "unprogrammed mode" so if I can get it resoldered, I'll try reprogramming it. If its dead, new...

    What is your current EDC?

my akoray's driver died. Shame because I really like the multimodes and 4hz stobe. But when the cards are down, and the money is spent, men need to be men. Thats why I'm EDCing with my free maglight solitare.

    p60 dropin rebuild?

OK I'll keep that in mind. One comes with an approx. 100 lumen green luxeon which I think might be interesting to try for biking. (Higher visibility) For an extra $1 I think I may try it.

    Akoray 106 disassembly pics

Its a little bigger than 16 mm and I may be able to remove a few threads from the pill. It'd leave a bit of space, but the body could screw in farther. If I do it, I'll post how it works out. Thanks!

    p60 dropin rebuild?

I have a q5 on a round base from a currently dead flashlight. A UF 501b with a luxeon is $10 at DX. The current 800 mah driver aught to be enough. Is it easy to open the dropin and put a new emitter in?

    Akoray 106 disassembly pics

I'll try this later. I didn't think of using my dremel for that. Vice method will probably just end with the plastic cracking but I'll try it. For absolute clarity I will say no. Because the plastic driver sleeve is nearly flush with the housing around it, there is no foreseeable way to...
