(Non-Partisan) Should voting be compulsory for registered US citizens?

This is the Australian model. (I'm pretty sure) The way it works there is everybody must vote by mail, with very few excuses allowed. If you don't vote, you pay a penalty come tax time. Simple. Hard to say that this is a nonpartisan issue in the USA, with only two parties even a very small shift...

What's the current shipping time when ordering from Peak now?

Ordered Monday 10/30, using the sales@peakledsolutions address. Don't know it that's Robyn or not. We had to bounce a few emails back and forth to get the details correct, and there was a glitch the first time she sent me a PayPal link, but within a few hours all was resolved. Still awaiting a...

A great man has passed. "He was a leader at the cutting edge of scientific research throughout the many decades of his career." Worked for the US army as a meteorologist during WWII. PHD in Physics 1952. 24 years at MIT's Lincoln laboratory laying the groundwork for modern RAM memory. He was...

Elzetta Bones flashlight - Elzetta first 18650 light

So you are running button tops with no crushing? What's the exact length? I'm seeing button tops that are anywhere between 66mm and 69mm. Elzetttas shut off at 3.0 volts, so I don't need protection. Is there such a thing as an un-protected button-top?

Elzetta Bones flashlight - Elzetta first 18650 light

Crushed 18650 Flat Tops? Switch to Button-Tops? I got my first Bravo in September 2013, which was before the low-profile bezel was even available. Best purchase I ever made. I tell people, "Get an Elzetta, you will not be sorry ...until you lose it! I've been using two Bravos that were bored...

Fraz Labs Mechanical Flashlights (formerly QTC Non-Battery Crush)

I also got a shipping notification on Friday. Looks like they got a few packages together before taking them to the post office. USPS package tracking has been totally screwed up for a couple months. This is the fifth time I've seen this. They report "shipping label created", then there is no...

Elzetta- The industry's best kept secret.

Semper Fideliis Here is a video of the USMC logo being engraved on three Charlie C133 models. Posted through the "Elzetta Design Insider Spring 2021 Newsletter" The sound is a slightly more musical version of scratching your fingernails on a chalkboard.

Can't find good 18350's for my BOSS 70

I have had a black aluminum BOSS 70 for a couple years, and recently got a Brass BOSS 70. They told me it was the last one. The problem is that I have only one set of 18350's that fit. I used to have four AW 18350 button top, but two of them bit the dust, and now I have only two good ones, need...

WTT Oveready B.O.S.S. for Anodized Titanium

I have an Oveready B.O.S.S. in gloss black, first generation, in perfect working condition, not a scratch on it shelf queen. Would like to trade up into something in an anodized titanium color, not really picky about exactly what it is as I don't really know exactly what I want. This will be my...

Does this mean color-changing batteries? Do you remember mood rings?

Does that mean you could tell how full a battery is just by looking at it? It sure sounds like it. https://phys.org/news/2021-01-extremely-fast-electrochromic-supercapacitors.html One Sentence: "Their inherent optical characteristics can therefore directly reveal the real time energy levels...

Is there anything better than/equal to the SkyRC MC3000 out there now?

I've been watching the development thread with great interest but never bothered to post because it seemed inevitable that... The BLF charger project has been put on indefinite hold. The feature list always did seem a bit too ambitious. The timeline unrealistic. Would take ten employees a year...

18650 - Are protected batteries ALWAYS better?

Hope it's OK to bump an old thread rather than start a new one, my concerns are similar to those discussed above, but a bit different. Also, Kudos to staticx57 who posted those two videos back in post 62. Protected vs Unprotected when used in series. Years ago I had the tube of an Elzeta...

Rechargeable options for 16340 in multi cell applications

I just checked the two lights I have with the four-cell carriers, and I can see the circuitry on them are 2+2. It's not 4 cells in one series. I'm willing to bet they are all like that. So, yes, it is standard practice to run 2 rechargeable cells in series nowadays. Let me say again that I had...
