    I would try to source DerWichtel 3LED drop-in / heatsink + Reflector holder. It has larger reflectors (23mm, maximum size for triple) for better throw :).

    That, and the higher Vf vs a XM-L(2) with a 16340 cell will never produce 5A in direct drive. Well, at least not for long (which makes them ideal for direct drive really, because it will always be safe). If you can upgrade to 18350 cell that would help :)

    To be honest, when you not compare the 2.8A vs the 4.2A version side by side, it will be hard to spot a big difference :). I do not know this light/host, but if it is on an aluminium PCB, not directly soldered to copper, the increase in current by 50% might not yield any higher output anyway...

    Thanks for the reply. If the picture is correct, then your Maelstrom is indeed slightly more green than the S3 in my foursevens mini. Have subscribed to this thread, will order in the near future :).

    How are the tints on the XM-L2 U3 and XP-G2 S3 bins? I have an XP-G S3 in my Foursevens MiNi 123 Ti, but it has a greenish tint. Not that it really matters in most cases, but a nice tint would be preferred ofcourse :).

    Thanks vestureofblood for the in depth feedback! Not the news I was wanting to hear, I'd rather had heard that the weird looking dome on the LED was doing its job and there was no donut :D :P. Well, we'll see. Have two coming my way at this moment and a smooth reflector that works beautifully...
