What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

I also gotta say... Aluminum needs to be coated with something to make a good reflector. Bare it will oxidize and wont reflect well. Look at old aluminum hardware, they're dull grey. That's their natural oxidized state. Silver will be fine until it tarnishes, you're correct, but it doesn't...

What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

There isn't supposed to be a right answer, I don't think. When you ask these questions you create discussions and you draw out anecdotes of individual instances where reflectors work in an especially useful way for their form factor, and then that helps you find examples that are worth looking...

programmable stage light settings for photography.

programmable stage light for photography. So, I'm using stage lights for photography for the first time. Now I can adjust the lighting in the room to the same degree that I can effect the white balance on the camera or the computer. I'm using mydmx3 to control them. I haven't dipped into this...

What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

degarb, I've played around with symmetrical ovals, mostly because I like the feel of those old 4 AA cell lights that had two stacks of batteries running side by side. For me it was a purely form over function thing, in an ugly case, but now I'll go back and play with it some more. I won't tackle...

What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

No, I had not. Thank you for the link, Archimedes. That's quite helpful actually.

What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

Well, dapping blocks took a while. I'll be stepping up my polishing equipment in the next month or so, along with a few more tools. New lenses and filters are in the mail from amazon. Lost a metal lathe last thursday. I'm trying not to dwell on it. It'll take a while to replace, since I'll...

What new trends are on the horizon?

I think it's incredible how many people are against the idea. It's not like the industry would suddenly shift to one newly adopted goal. Just like always they'll continue developing multiple products. the simple, single cell, everyday carry flashlight won't disappear any time soon.

Batteries with built-in micro USB charging

They make Ds and 9v rechargeable batteries like that now, too. They're only attractive options if you don't already own a charger that fit those batteries. It's a way to reach out to new potential customers, and make things easier and more appealing. Those are multi-cell batteries inside a...

What new trends are on the horizon?

#1 If a powerbank flashlight was done right that would be cool. We already have flashlights that do a better job of charging than some chargers. USB outlets are big, though. #2 Over the weekend I was actually shopping around for a metal pill fob with similar dimensions to a 16340 or 18350...

    Favourite/most beloved 1xAA lights?

Haha, well, it's a good response. I could see it having a legitimate edge for backpacking and hiking long trails at night. I'm more of the caving and climbing sort, so I'd rather carry more weight in my pack and less on my face, but I can see where the added run time would be a bonus there, too...

    Favourite/most beloved 1xAA lights?

I know, I know, but to be honest its still pretty bright on high, and I have other flashlights if I want super bright. This one runs on a AA! There are two of those in every remote control in every house, ever. That's sort of what this thread is about, isn't it?

    Favourite/most beloved 1xAA lights?

My zebralight h52w is in my pocket everyday, and if I'm working the headband strap is either in my bag, jacket, or the back pocket of my jeans. I've worked in too many dimly lit environments over the years to go anywhere without it. I hardly ever change the batteries in it, and it's never gotten...

What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

Progress report: So, the snow this week kept me from doing any machine work. I settled for using the beak of my anvil to get general shapes, but I don't foresee that being very helpful in the long run. I think a Heikki Seppa approach to this will give the best results, so I'll be using wooden...

    1414 project

"The device stores electrical energy by using it to heat a block of pure silicon to melting point – 1414 degrees Celsius. It discharges through a heat-exchange device such as a Stirling engine or a turbine, which converts heat back to electrical energy, and recycles waste heat to lift...

What would the ideal reflector look like to you?

I didn't miss it, I just found the following three sentences to be lacking in detail. They mostly added up to a statement of preference without constructive information, and what little was there was too generalized to be encouraging. I didn't take offense too it, and I apologize if my reply...
